Wills & Estates

Clear planning, sensible fees, an orderly process

A free will. A fair executor’s fee

A properly drafted will is one of the simplest and most important pieces of financial planning you can put in place.

Cape Mutual prepares a standard will at no charge and, where our estate administration service is appropriate, offers executor’s remuneration of 2% of the gross value of estate assets, excluding VAT, rather than the prescribed maximum tariff of 3.5%.

Our aim is simple: clear planning during your lifetime, sensible fees after your death, and an orderly process for the people you leave behind.

More Than Simply
Drafting A Document

For many people, a straightforward will is all that is required. For others, estate planning needs to consider a much wider set of circumstances and identifying which is the first thing we do together.

Blended Families

Providing fairly for a spouse, children from more than one relationship, and dependants with different needs.

Testamentary Trusts

Structuring a trust within your will to protect minor children or beneficiaries who aren’t ready to inherit directly.

Foreign Assets

Coordinating a will with property, accounts or assets held outside
South Africa.

Business Interests & Succession

Planning for what happens to a business, partnership or shareholding on your death.

Maintenance Obligations

Accounting for existing maintenance orders or obligations to a former spouse or dependants.

Complex Family Circumstances

Any other situation where a standard will isn’t enough on its own.

More than simply drafting a document

For many people, a straightforward will is all that is required. For others, estate planning needs to consider a much wider set of circumstances.

We will help identify where specialist legal, tax or fiduciary advice may be appropriate, particularly where an estate involves blended families, testamentary trusts, foreign assets, business interests or succession arrangements, significant maintenance obligations, or other complex family or financial circumstances.

Where specialist advice is required, Cape Mutual will coordinate with appropriately qualified professionals rather than attempting to provide advice outside our area of responsibility.

Start with a conversation

We offer a free introductory consultation, either at our Claremont office or online.

For clients whose requirements or estate circumstances fall outside Cape Mutual’s direct service model, we may – with the client’s consent – introduce an appropriate specialist estate-planning provider. Any material commercial relationship or referral remuneration will be disclosed where required.

Start the conversation

Most arrangements begin with a straightforward conversation about your family, your business and where your interests sit. Book a time that suits you and we will take it from there.
