Cape Mutual is a Cape Town-based fiduciary and international structuring business serving families, entrepreneurs and businesses with interests in South Africa and abroad.
Trust and corporate structures are not once-off transactions. They require careful administration, sound governance and advisers who understand the family, business and purpose behind the structure. Cape Mutual is built around long-term relationships rather than product sales.
A structure established well and administered poorly will eventually fail the people it was built for. Our work is weighted towards the years after establishment, not the weeks around it.
Shaun Burrow is the founder and principal adviser of Cape Mutual. His career has included fiduciary services, private banking, investments, international corporate structures and the establishment and management of businesses across multiple jurisdictions.
Shaun advises clients on the overall structure of their personal, family and commercial affairs. Cape Mutual then coordinates the legal, tax, fiduciary and administrative professionals required to implement and maintain each structure.
This gives clients one experienced relationship at the centre of arrangements that may otherwise involve several firms, service providers and jurisdictions.
Cape Mutual does not attempt to perform every specialist function itself. We remain responsible for understanding the client’s objectives, advising on the overall arrangement and coordinating implementation. Legal, tax, trusteeship, accounting, company-secretarial and other regulated or specialist services are delivered by appropriately qualified professional partners.
Legal, tax, trusteeship and accounting work is carried out by professionals qualified and regulated to do it, in the jurisdiction where it applies.
Rather than briefing several firms separately and reconciling what each one says, you deal with one adviser who already understands the whole arrangement.
Because Cape Mutual sits across every part of it, changes in one jurisdiction, one entity or one family circumstance are considered against everything else.
Most arrangements begin with a straightforward conversation about your family, your business and where your interests sit. Book a time that suits you and we will take it from there.
Choose an available time in the Cape Mutual diary. You will receive a confirmation and calendar invitation by email.
Appointments are held by video or at our Claremont offices.
